How "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" Got Me Out of My Creative Rut

ree

Hey Good Vibe Girl Gang!

So, let’s get real for a moment. I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump lately. You know those times when you just can’t seem to get your creative juices flowing? That’s been me. Whether it's writing blog posts or creating podcasts, I’ve been feeling totally stalled. But don’t worry, your girl is back with a burst of inspiration, and I have to tell you all about it!

The Struggle Is Real

First off, let’s just acknowledge that it’s totally normal to hit a creative wall every now and then. Life happens, right? Sometimes the universe throws you a curveball, and you’re left feeling like your mojo has just packed up and left. I’ve been feeling a bit like that lately – stuck, uninspired, and frankly, a little lost.

Enter Mark Manson and His Magic Book

In the midst of my creative crisis, I stumbled upon a book that I’d heard so much about but never actually picked up: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* by Mark Manson. Let me tell you, this book is a game-changer! Manson’s blunt and no-nonsense approach to life was just what I needed to hear.

The "Do Something" Principle

One of the biggest takeaways from the book for me was Manson’s “Do Something” principle. It’s all about action leading to inspiration and then to motivation. Sounds simple, right? But it’s seriously powerful!

Here’s the gist: Instead of waiting for inspiration to strike before you take action, just start doing something – anything. The action itself can create inspiration, which then fuels your motivation. It’s like a beautiful cycle of productivity!

How It Worked for Me

I decided to give this principle a shot. Instead of waiting for the perfect idea to hit me before writing a blog post or planning a podcast episode, I just started doing small tasks. I jotted down random ideas, brainstormed topics, and even recorded some voice memos with thoughts and concepts.

And guess what? It worked! Once I got started, I found that ideas began to flow more freely. That little bit of action sparked the inspiration I needed, and suddenly, I was motivated to create again. It was like a light bulb went off, and I was back in my creative groove.

Embracing Imperfection

Another thing I loved about Manson’s approach is that it encourages embracing imperfection. Sometimes we get so caught up in wanting everything to be perfect that we end up doing nothing at all. But perfection is overrated, ladies! It’s all about progress, not perfection.

Getting Back to Good Vibes

So here I am, back in action and feeling more inspired than ever. If you’ve been feeling stuck or unmotivated, I highly recommend giving the “Do Something” principle a try. Pick up The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* if you haven’t already – it might just be the kick in the ass you need!
